Racknoise Bot

The Racknoise.com crawler, built and maintained by Marisa Wallace.

Updated July 21st, 2026

About

Racknoise.com is a new eurorack database and planner, built from the ground up for accessibility, performance, and search -- and launching for closed beta within the next 2 months. Email me at racknoisebot@tuta.com if you'd like to join!

None of our data is scraped from ModularGrid. I'm building a new database from scratch, directly from manufacturers' published specs, and the Internet Archive.

Why it visited you

I (Marisa) identified your site as a manufacturer, retailer, or documentation source for modular synthesizer hardware, or your site was linked from the same.

How your data is used

No archived pages are republished directly. Some factual catalog information will be published to a limited audience, on Racknoise.com during the closed beta. Once the closed beta launches, I'll be attempting to contact manufacturers to request explicit permission to republish images of their modules.

What about the Bot? Is it polite?

Racknoise Bot reads pages and downloads assets. It only issues GET requests. It does not submit forms, log in, create accounts, or guess at URLs. It finds pages by following links from other public pages and by reading your robots.txt and sitemap.xml.

I've made every effort to build the Bot so it doesn't download large assets, assets I don't need, or assets it's already downloaded. I believe it works well (though not perfectly) and I'm continually improving the algorithm.

Please contact me if the bot did something you don't like, and I'll make an effort to fix the problem.

How to identify it

RacknoiseBot/1.0 (+https://racknoise.net/bot; racknoisebot@tuta.com)

How to slow it down or block it

Add a rule to your robots.txt. To block it completely:

User-agent: RacknoiseBot
Disallow: /

To slow it down:

User-agent: RacknoiseBot
Crawl-delay: 30

Changes should be picked up within 12 hours (our robots.txt cache TTL). If you need it stopped sooner, email me and I'll add a block on my end, as soon as I see your email.
